ExactFactor – A Simple SEO Tool with Potential

I think for most professional SEO consultants one of the main challenges is to create monthly reports for account activities, and search engine rankings for their client websites. While most analytics application allows for an easy export to excel they do not provide he search engine ranking for specific keywords which becomes a painful manual job often. There are definitely a lot of search engine ranking checker tools available on the Internet but not many of them are reliable.

Recently I came across the site Exactfactor.com that provides exactly the same service. It has got an easy to use interface allows you to check ranking for your keywords in three different search engines ( Google, Yahoo and Live.com ). In addition, it allows you to specify a competitor and it actually pull sup a comparison of how you fare against your competitors in terms of search engine ranking for the specified keywords. A pretty handy utility indeed and the best thing is the application is free!

You can use the tool even without registration but that would restrict you to just three keywords, however, once you register, you can have many more number of keywords looked up at the same go.I did a registration and played with the tool for some time. It seems pretty nice but probably there are still a few things that can be done to improve the tool to great extent.

I actually got in touch with one of the Exact Factor guys and told him about the improvement suggestions I have mentioned below. May be you guys can also try this SEO tool and put your suggestions in the comments.

a) after you register and run the report once by adding the keywords to account. It doesn’t give you any visible button or link to re run the report ( in case you edit the keyword lis or search engine list). I am sure they do have an option for this or create one but the present interface can definitely be improved with addition of one such button.

b) It might be a great idea to provide option for the users to specify the data centers from which he wants the results pulled. Without this there is a possibility of discrepancy of results between manual checks and automated check if results are served from different data centers.

c) It would be simply great to have an option to export the reports to Excel

This SEO tool also sends alerts to email on various incidents like change of search engine ranking, your competitor passing you or a major improvement in your rankings etc.

While I am not a big fan of SEO tools , I am sure this type of SEO tools that helps in gathering relevant data would make it easier for SEO consultant’s like us who work with multiple clients.
